SMA Koudo Ikusei adalah sekolah bergengsi terkemuka dengan fasilitas canggih di mana hampir 100% siswanya melanjutkan ke universitas atau mencari pekerjaan. Para siswa di sana memiliki kebebasan untuk memakai gaya rambut apa pun dan membawa barang-barang pribadi apa pun yang mereka inginkan. Koudo Ikusei adalah sekolah yang bagaikan surga, namun kenyataannya hanya siswa paling unggul yang menerima perlakuan istimewa.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka adalah siswa kelas D, di mana sekolah membuang siswa “inferior” untuk mengejek mereka. Untuk alasan tertentu, Kiyotaka ceroboh dalam ujian masuknya, dan dimasukkan ke kelas D. Setelah bertemu Horikita Suzune dan Kushida Kikyou, dua siswa lain di kelasnya, situasi Kiyotaka mulai berubah.
