Tiga puluh tahun yang lalu sebuah fenomena aneh yang disebut “spacequake” menghancurkan pusat Eurasia, merenggut nyawa sedikitnya 150 juta orang. Sejak itu, gempa luar angkasa yang lebih kecil melanda dunia secara tidak teratur. Shido Itsuka, seorang siswa sekolah menengah yang tampaknya biasa-biasa saja, bertemu dengan seorang gadis misterius di titik nol gempa luar angkasa dan mengetahui bahwa dia adalah salah satu “Roh” yang merupakan penyebab sebenarnya dari gempa luar angkasa yang terjadi ketika mereka menampakkan diri di dunia. Dia direkrut untuk memanfaatkan kemampuan misteriusnya untuk menyegel kekuatan para Roh sehingga menghentikan mereka menjadi ancaman bagi umat manusia. Namun, ada syaratnya: untuk menyegel kekuatan Roh, dia harus membuat dia jatuh cinta padanya dan menciumnya.
