Sindrom Pubertas—sindrom misterius dan dikabarkan hanya menyerang mereka yang berada dalam masa pubertas. Misalnya, seorang gadis kelinci tiba-tiba muncul di depan Sakuta Azusagawa. Identitas asli gadis kelinci itu adalah Mai Sakurajima, seorang selebriti remaja yang saat ini duduk di bangku SMA tidak aktif. Entah kenapa, sosok menawannya tidak terlihat di mata orang lain. Dalam upaya mengungkap misteri di balik fenomena ini, Sakuta mulai mengeksplorasi perasaannya terhadap Mai. Bertempat di kota di mana langit dan lautan bersinar, Sakuta mengungkap makna di balik pertemuan anehnya dengan wanita dengan sindrom tersebut.
